Events Group Meeting – Wednesday 28 July at 6pm

Now that the centre is open again we are hoping to organise a full programme of events, such as Halloween and Christmas Parties, Christmas Fayre, fundraising events (for example, prosecco and gin nights).

The first meeting of the Events Group will be held on Wednesday 28 July at 6pm – if you are interested please just pop along or contact Sarah if you would like more info.

Reopening & have your say survey

The Community Centre has recently reopened after closures due to Covid-19.

We are now in the process of planning new activities and groups, but we want to know what you think is needed. Please help us by providing answers to this survey. The information used will help support applications for funding so that we can continue to provide activities and groups that meet the wants and needs of local people.

Thank you so much for completing this. We really appreciate it!

Lockdown Support

Burnhope Village Support Group has helped many families, all with differing needs and backgrounds, over the time of the pandemic.

For support call Cindy Brockington on 07749 756364 or Julie Williams on 07949 622205.

As part of a grant from County Durham Community Foundation and National Emergencies Trust, Burnhope Village Support Group has stocks of essential household items and food to give to anyone in our village who finds themselves with less in the purse due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

You do not have to choose between shopping and paying a bill. Let us do the shopping for you!

To order a parcel from us call Cindy on 07749756364. You can also order on behalf of someone else who might not want to ring themselves.

Here are some of the responses we received from our food parcel service:

“Hi, it is amazing. I can’t believe it. We’re over the moon. I’m so grateful! Thank you xx”

“Thank u and I mean it. u done more for me than any one has done xxxxxx”

“It’s a great comfort to know that there is someone to talk to and people who care. Xxxxx”

“It made my uncle feel good that someone thought about him. We were really happy with what was in the box and the service was very good.”

“I am very great full for the group when I felt like I was alone and failing and there was no way forward this lovely group provided me with hope food support and most of all friends it give me the strength to see a way through the volunteers have been helpful and friendly and not in anyway have I been judged for seeking help I am greatly honoured to be part of such a amazing village xxxx”

Again, this service would not be possible without the generosity of our villagers, funding from County Durham Community Foundation and National Emergencies Trust – THANK YOU

Closed for lockdown

As you probably expected, the Community Centre will be closed from tonight until at least 2 December 2020.

All the groups, the youth club and the gym will be closed.

It is sad when things were just starting to pick up but the safety of our members, volunteers and staff are more important.

We will be doing some Zoom based activities so keep an eye out on the page for that.

Also our AGM next Tuesday 10 November 2020 at 6:00pm will be on Zoom – please message the Centre for joining instructions.

Take care and stay safe everyone.
